Milking Cow

Consumer Action

Consumers need to actively demand improved quality dairy products from their grocer and the food industry. They also need to demand that dairy cows be milked in a manner that does not produce teat swelling/damage and pain. Visit our Take Action page for more information about how you can get involved.

Dairy farmers have been forced in the past to rely on faulty milking equipment products that produce “fluffy” (swollen) teats as described by Dairymaster (manufacturer of one brand of conventional milking equipment).

Consumers should consider the following:

  • Is it acceptable to milk cows with equipment that substantially reduces the life of a dairy cow while causing pain and physical harm each day while leaving consumers with reduced quality?
  • Would women accept a product that caused increased incidence of infection and a permanent physical deformity as exhibited by dairy cows damaged by milking equipment?
